Job description

Reporting to the Director, the Analyst, Origination is responsible for assisting on public/private equity and debt financing efforts as well as assisting in the development and distribution of other financial products. iA Capital Markets is a retail-focused investment bank providing a suite of capital markets products and services to both our internal advisor network, and our public and private corporate clients with market capitalization between $25M-$100M.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assisting in the execution on a wide variety of transactions headed by senior members of the capital markets team;
  2. Prepare materials and presentations to clients with respect to raising capital from public and private markets and other capital markets topics;
  3. Developing and maintaining detailed financial models;
  4. Participating in team discussions and client meetings to evaluate ideas and tailor solutions that deliver an impact for our clients;
  5. Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders;
  6. Handling general day-to-day client requests and inquiries as well as maintaining databases;
  7. Ability to undertake broader work or accountabilities and support capital markets teams.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Qualifications:

  1. Relevant education. Undergraduate degree, alongside professional accounting, corporate finance or investment banking work experience; CFA and/or CPA designations optional but beneficial. All applicants are required to submit both their resume and their transcript in order to be considered for the position.
  2. Knowledge of corporate finance, accounting and financial modeling (including preparation of 3-statement forecast models).
  3. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership for customer service and be a self-starter who is motivated internally to set high standards of performance.
  4. Work well in a collaborative environment with success maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders and colleagues.
  5. Excellent oral and written communicator as well as a visual eye for presentation.
  6. Structured approach to prioritizing and ensuring that multiple priorities and customer needs are met in a timely manner.
  7. Ability to thrive in a hands-on entrepreneurial environment.
  8. Excellent numerical and analytical abilities, strong attention to detail.
  9. Advanced spoken and written French and English skills and exceptional team attitude.

Specific skills & abilities or areas of knowledge:

  1. Proficiency with Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Utilizes tools and data at their disposal to improve productivity and efficiency of day-to-day activities.
  2. Language requirement: must be able to communicate and correspond in both English and French.
