Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Inventory Analyst to join our Finance team at Porter Airlines. The Analyst, Finance - Inventory will play a crucial role in optimizing inventory management processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. Reporting directly to the Manager, Financial Reporting within the Finance department, this role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the airline's operational success and financial health.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Inventory Management:
    • Laison with the maintenance team to monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels of aircraft parts, consumables, and supplies to support operations.
    • Implement inventory control procedures to minimize stock-outs and excess inventory.
    • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy of financial records and reports.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, classifications, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Prepare regular reports and presentations on inventory metrics, including turnover rates, aging inventory, and cost variances.
    • Provide actionable insights to stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  3. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with Procurement, Maintenance, and Operations teams to forecast inventory needs based on flight schedules and maintenance requirements.
    • Collaborate with Finance team members to integrate inventory data into financial forecasts and budgets.
    • Work with the Accounts Payable team to resolve open issues related to inventory management.
  4. Process Improvement:
    • Develop and implement strategies to streamline inventory management processes and reduce costs.
    • Identify and recommend software tools or current systems capabilities and/or enhancements to improve inventory tracking and reporting capabilities.
    • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  5. Maintenance - Inventory:
    • Understand the inventory at hangars at all bases for the purchasing of parts, receiving process and inventory management including cycle count program.
    • Process mapping of inventory procedures to understand gaps in reporting.
    • Understand available reporting in the maintenance system (AMOS/RAAS) to understand accounting transactions, usage, classifications, min max levels and safety stock and age.
    • Understand available reporting for orders management (open PO’s, price history, zero cost PO’s, Repair Orders, Service orders, etc.) to manage outstanding orders.
  6. Accounting - Inventory:
    • Ensure the inventory subledger supports the GL for balance sheet reporting for inventory valuation and reporting of expenses.
    • Support integration of AMOS to GP as part of phase 2 of the AMOS integration.
    • Establish cycle count schedule and ensure compliance at all locations.

Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and capable of working with cross-functional teams.
  3. A Minimum 2 years of experience in related field, e.g., inventory analysis & internal audit.
  4. Strong knowledge of business process, inventory risks and controls, including inventory control/risk management frameworks and Standards.
  5. Proficiency in use of various software applications, especially Microsoft Office suite.
  6. Strong technical inventory management skills.
  7. Works collaboratively as part of a team; is flexible to get work completed.
  8. Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to break down complex issues into management parts in a systematic manner and analyze root causes.
  9. Self-starter with the ability to work independently and have the initiatives and creativity to come up with innovative and value-added solutions to issues.
  10. Excellent business sense with strong knowledge of business processes.
