Plains is seeking a Damage Prevention Analyst to work out of our Calgary, Alberta office. Reporting to the Manager, Damage Prevention and Public Awareness (DPPA), you will oversee the administration, development and implementation of various programs to prevent line strikes, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote consistent methods and practices for your assigned operating area. You possess the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with Plains personnel, regulatory representatives, industry organizations, third party contractors, the public and emergency officials, and can travel to field locations up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure standardization, compliance and consistency of DPPA programs, processes and procedures.
  • Conduct assurance activities and continually improve DPPA programs.
  • Identify DPPA materials for stakeholder education.
  • Work with Emergency Response to establish training objectives and deliver training, drills and tabletop exercises.
  • Assist Contractor Safety Specialist on project kick-offs and line strike investigations.
  • Support Operations with excavator (contractor) education and public awareness sessions, including identifying attendees.
  • Train field personnel on Common Ground Alliance (CGA) best practices and regulatory recommended practices as needed.
  • Assist Asset Integrity with initiatives and programs involving asset protection.
  • Leverage One-Call, Irthnet and Xchange systems to support field personnel.
  • Review ROW investigation forms to ensure follow-up actions are documented.
  • Assist with training employees on federal, provincial and local laws and exemptions governing damage prevention.
  • Provide support to Environmental, Health and Safety departments regarding Plains DPPA program regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain and grow industry relationships with key officials at the local, provincial and federal levels.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry regulations and guidelines associated with DPPA requirements and expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ DPPA experience; One-Call experience an asset
  • Understanding of environmental and CER regulations preferred
  • Strong organizational, planning, coordinating, and implementation skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to facilitate meetings and develop/deliver training
  • Able to travel up to 50%
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
  • Cleared criminal history (background), education, and satisfactory reference checks
