We’re looking for our next Analyst, Corporate Actions. Could It Be You?
The Analyst, Corporate Actions is responsible for processing voluntary and mandatory corporate action events, reviewing event bulletins and related materials, reconciling reorg control accounts and resolving any break that may arise. The position monitors, audits and measures in-house processes and third-party services against SLA’s and regulatory obligations, then reports on the results.
They act as the first and primary point of contact for third party administrative and supervisory employees.
They foster positive and productive relationships internally and with external third parties, as well as work collaboratively with all parties to effectively resolve issues.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Process voluntary and/or mandatory Corporate Actions accurately and in a timely manner, including event set-up, announcement and processing of various Corporate Actions events (e.g. tender offers, distribution, dividends, elections, rights offerings, proxy, consent offers etc.). This includes reconciling, monitoring and posting of payments to client accounts while also handling any related client inquiries.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or breaks within internal accounts.
- Effectively manage complex issues that require in-depth analysis in order to identify the root cause of the issue and to find an optimal solution for our client in a timely and accurate manner.
- Establish and foster positive and productive relationships with third party service providers (e.g. Broadridge and transfer agents).
- Be the Subject Matter Expert and provide reorg event information for Risk Department and Trade Desk.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of tax-related issues affecting Corporate Actions.
- Process physical certificates for plan of arrangement and reorg, including research and coordinating with Issuers and/or third-party agents.
- Determine if FX is required and process appropriately.
- Check mandatory event payments that are paid every day.
- Point of contact for mandatory and voluntary claims on share following short positions.
- Respond to Qoffice tasks and email inquiries for investigations and resolutions.
- Assist the ATG team with conversion of securities.
- Book cheques for GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate) maturity.
- Retrieve and provide proxy related information as requested by CSS.
- Review any corporate action mail to ensure notices have been mailed to clients.
- Review pushout events.
- Review, monitor and take action on reorg events subject to 302 tax with Year End Department.
- Ensure individual and third-party clearing operation’s daily tasks are completed timely and provide signoff on check-in forms.
- Other ad-hoc reorg related tasks and duties, as assigned.

- Have 1-3 years of relevant work experience, ideally in corporate actions.
- Have a post-secondary degree/diploma preferably in Finance, Economics or related field.
- Have experience working in a clearing operations or back-office department.
- Have sound knowledge in one or more clearing operations functional areas.
- Have an understanding of regulatory requirements.
- Have excellent communication skills and strong relationship building skills.
- Have investigative and research skills and have an eye for details.
- Have the ability to read and interpret newsletters and company circulars, light math calculation.
- Have working to intermediate knowledge of excel or google sheets.
- Have proven analytical and reconciliation skills and experience.
- Have completed CSI course, including CSC, CPH exam.
Please note this role will be required to be in office 3 days a week.
