Job Description:

The role

Sun Life is looking for a new member to join our Climate Strategy & Performance team to support the measurement and management of our enterprise greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory as well as a variety of strategic climate-related efforts.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about sustainability and has strong data analysis and stakeholder engagement skills. This team member will support gathering and analyzing data across Sun Life’s business as well as being responsible for learning about and keeping up-to-date with relevant carbon accounting standards and reporting frameworks to advance measurement of our enterprise carbon footprint. This team member will also support other strategic initiatives across the team, including emissions management strategies, climate-related communications, and market insights, among others.

The team

Sun Life’s Climate Strategy and Performance team acts as a central resource across the business for GHG emissions data collection, inventory and analysis, delivering on enterprise-wide emissions reporting and third-party assurance, monitoring performance against climate-related objectives, and enabling the creation of climate resiliency roadmaps. This central climate team works closely with sustainability teams from across Sun Life’s business groups, business units and regions in which we operate.

What you will do?

  • Develop and validate data insights related to our GHG emissions to support a variety of internal and external reporting purposes
  • Assist in collecting and preparing emissions data for and support in development of climate resiliency roadmaps with business groups and functional teams
  • Explore and integrate emerging methodologies and best practices for GHG emissions quantification
  • Create materials to support internal and external communications of climate change-related information, including data, progress toward strategic projects, and more
  • Participate in various other climate strategy-related initiatives

What you need to succeed?

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; detail and numbers oriented; proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong stakeholder management and communications skills
  • Knowledge of relevant climate-related industry standards, frameworks, and regulations
  • Well-organized and self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
