AltaGas - Relief Operator Student, Townsend Facility (Fort St. John)

AltaGas is seeking two Summer Relief Operator Students to join our Townsend Facility! The AltaGas Townsend facilities are located approximately 125 km northwest of Fort St. John, BC. The Townsend facilities are shallow cut & deep cut gas trains designed to process 550 MMSCFD of raw sweet gas. Taking day-to-day direction from the Lead Plant Operator, this position is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the Townsend facilities.

Please note that preference will be given to candidates who currently live in the Fort St. John area. The term of the position is May 1st 2025 to August 30th 2025. Transportation is provided from Fort St. John to the facility.

You will:

  1. Assist in the daily operation of the Townsend facilities, working the 12-hour day/night shift schedule that will change depending on operations vacation, training, and absence coverage.
  2. Assist in the safe and efficient operation of all scheduled and unscheduled work of the facilities including operations, repairs, and maintenance.
  3. Assist in pipeline ESDV, ROW inspections, and pigging operations.
  4. Adhere to all AltaGas policies, operating standards, procedures, and practices.
  5. Report facility safety incidents.

You have:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  2. Currently enrolled in a Power Engineering Program working towards a 4th Class Power Engineering certificate.
  3. Gas plant and power generation experience would be considered an asset.
  4. Ability to work 10 days on, 10 days off with rotating 12-hour shifts in a camp-based environment from May 1st to August 30th 2025.
  5. Excellent work ethic and a safety-focused mindset.
