POSITION TITLE: Airport Maintenance Mechanic
DEPARTMENT: Community Services (Smithers Regional Airport)
HOURS OF WORK: Eighty (80) hours in a two (2) week pay period
2-Year Leave Coverage (potential for permanent position)

HOURLY RATE: $36.07 - $39.25 (2025)

Surrounded by mountain ranges, Smithers is a northern gem, nestled at the base of Hudson Bay Mountain. With a population of 5,400, it is a service hub for a surrounding region comprising of a population of approximately 15,000.
Residents enjoy four seasons of recreational activities; in addition to a ski hill within a half an hour of town, the region offers world-class fishing, backcountry and cross-country skiing, hunting, golfing and alpine trails for hiking and horseback riding coupled with a lively music scene, Art Gallery, Museum, theatrical performances, and an energetic sporting community.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Reporting to the Airport Manager, the Airport Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for providing general maintenance and repair functions for the airport runway, roadways, grounds, building, equipment, sewer, and water.

Qualifications include:

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid class 3 license with air brake endorsement.
• Level 1 First Aid.
• At least one (1) year of experience in airport equipment service, some heavy-duty mechanical experience, welding experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
