Job description

Responsibilities:

  1. Create, validate, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including but not limited to deployment guides and upgrade procedures.
  2. Create, organize, and maintain engineering documentation such as system manuals, how-to guides, knowledge base articles, and troubleshooting guides.
  3. Gather information from subject-matter experts, compile, develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
  4. Act as the engineering documentation coordinator / work with development and support leads.
  5. Work closely with the documentation team to conform / adhere to the necessary corporate documentation standards and norms.
  6. Develop, implement, and maintain necessary documentation templates.
  7. Assume complete ownership of deployments and upgrades documentation.
  8. Evaluate current content and develop / implement innovative methods for improvement (style guides, content templates, best practices).
  9. Act as the user advocate and provide a consistent voice across all documentation.

Required Qualifications:

  1. 4-7 years of experience as an effective technical writer.
  2. Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.
  3. Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences.
  4. Experience performing software deploys and troubleshooting skills will be a big plus.
  5. Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  6. Experience working with engineers to disseminate, write and validate procedural content.
  7. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  8. Curious and have a learning mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in technology, communications, or relevant technical field.
  2. Firm understanding of SDLC (systems development lifecycle).
  3. Experience in software development or QA.
  4. Professional certification (e.g., Society for Technical Communication).
  5. Experience with document encoding (XML, markdown, json, yaml).
  6. Experience with content management tools (SharePoint, Confluence).
  7. Experience with configuration management tools (JIRA, TFS).
  8. Experience with source control tools (Git) is a plus.
  9. Experience working in an agile development environment.
  10. Project management experience is an asset.
  11. DevOps, Virtualization, Linux, Kubernetes, Containers big plus.
