What you can expect to do here:

1. Establish and maintain partnerships and communication with Business Operations to make recommendations and influence Leadership (e.g. Project Managers/Directors) to understand needs, assess Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) risks and align HSE advisory services to support the attainment of primary business goals, which is to prevent injuries mainly through:

• Efficient planning through Project Risk Assessments, Safe Job Procedures and Practices.
• Selection of hazards controls according to Hierarchy of Controls (HoC) principle.
• Consultation and participation of employees.
• Trainings and competencies.
• Behavioural Based Safety interventions.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

1. Degree, diploma or certificate program from a post-secondary and accredited institution in environment, health and safety (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
2. A professional designation such as (CRSP, CRST, CHSO or CHSC) would be an asset.
3. 8-10 years of experience related to industrial or construction project safety.
4. Intermediate to senior experience level in an HSE role.
5. Knowledge of Canadian provincial OH&S Acts, regulations, and industry best practices.
6. Bilingualism (French/English) an asset.
7. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
8. Autonomy and self-motivated team player.
9. Proficient computer skills and thorough understanding of Microsoft office suite.

Deliverables & Key Performance Indicators:

1. Achieve target for number of visits to projects to perform inspection/audit as budgeted and set in annual Goals and Objectives (G&O).
2. Completion of HSE Inspection Reports, Audit Reports, HSE Root Cause Analysis Report, and other measured metrics (e.g., inspection or audit record, corrective actions).
3. Managing events within the WSP Online Reporting System against measured metrics (e.g., HSE incidents and observations: Timeline to action or close a reported event).
4. Cascading and supporting HSE communications, goals and objectives.
5. Positive feedback from sector leadership and business partners.
