ABOUT THE TEAMSitting within the Chief Investment Office (CIO) group of one of the largest pension funds in Canada, the Dynamic Asset Allocation and Currency Management (DAACM) team leads the dynamic asset allocation and currency management of PSP portfolio (the Total Fund). The team is in charge of managing rebalancing activities, for asset classes and currencies, to ensure that the Total Fund exposure is aligned with desired targets.
ABOUT YOUR ROLEAs a Global Strategist Advisor in the DAACM team, you will play an important role in shaping our investment strategies across global financial markets. You will contribute to our decision-making processes, ensuring that our asset allocation decisions are aligned with financial and economic forecasts, over a medium-term horizon. You will collaborate closely with analysts, asset managers, and other key stakeholders to provide insightful financial market analysis and to proactively identify investment opportunities.
Your main responsibilities include:
Closely monitor global financial markets conditions and proactively anticipate market trends, to support investment decisions across the CIO group and investment teams
Conduct advanced quantitative and econometric analysis to provide insights on financial market trends and investment opportunities
Help to develop and improve on in-house analytical tools and econometric models key to the analysis of economic conditions and financial markets
Contribute to asset allocation recommendations over the medium-term horizon, incorporating market conditions and in-house return forecasts for various asset classes and currencies
Collaborate with investment teams to deliver investment recommendations for both public and private asset classes
Prepare detailed reports and presentations for the team, the CIO group, and senior management
Perform all other duties as required by the position
Advanced degree in Finance, Financial engineering, Economics, or a related field (Master’s or Ph.D.); CFA designation is an asset
Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in investment strategy or asset allocation
In-depth knowledge of global financial markets, investment instruments, and financial modelling
Advanced quantitative and data analysis, with proficiency in econometric modeling, estimation, and forecasting
Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within and across different teams
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Flexibility to adapt to changing investment conditions and organizational needs
Proficiency with econometric packages (Eviews, Python, R, etc.), Microsoft Office suite, and financial market databases (Bloomberg, Haver, Datastream, etc.)
Bilingualism: English and French *(Frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
