The Advancement Marketing and Digital Communications Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Alumni Affairs & Development (AA&D) department at the University of Guelph. In this role, you will lead the department’s email communications strategy, oversee the digital engagement calendar, and collaborate with internal teams to develop effective digital campaigns. You will be responsible for ensuring best-in-class email marketing, fundraising appeals, and performance analytics while championing excellence in digital communications.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for the overall email engagement calendar, supporting the department’s ambitious fundraising and engagement strategic goals, and working collaboratively across the department.
- Champion department-wide excellence in digital communications with expertise in technologies such as Luminate Online, Blackbaud CRM, Google Analytics, Stripo, and Drupal.
- Lead the department’s email communications strategy and support internal units in building an annual calendar of best-in-class and effective digital communications and fundraising appeals.
- Oversee measurement and analytics to assess the effectiveness of digital communications and fundraising efforts.
- Collaborate with all units in AA&D to provide expertise and leadership in mobile-first design to elevate alumni and donor engagement, Annual Giving campaigns, events, and fundraising priorities.
- Lead AA&D in best practices, staying on top of industry trends in digital engagement.
- Help advance AA&D’s profile and brand reputation with its target audiences.
Requirements
- 4 years' experience leading email marketing, and experience in fundraising communications, content strategy, event marketing, and multi-channel campaigns.
- Undergraduate degree in marketing, business, or related field.
- Experience in a university setting and advancement communications initiatives is an asset.
- Extensive experience managing a busy email marketing calendar.
- Experience creating and executing a digital content strategy in support of alumni and donor engagement.
- Experience in delivering high-quality, engaging, creative, brand-appropriate communications initiatives.
- Experience with email building platforms, mobile design, html, UTM codes, and AODA.
- Experience with Blackbaud CRM and constituent data in marketing campaigns.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Drupal, graphic design, and web-publishing.
- Experience with writing, editing, proof-reading, and adherence to brand standards, style, voice and tone.
- Knowledge of video production.
