Job description

Job Title: Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

We are searching for an experienced Advanced Manufacturing Engineer on behalf of our client, a global Tier 1 & 2 automotive manufacturer of components and assemblies to the automotive and other industrial markets. This position is located in the Windsor area.

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes and providing process layouts for the manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Process Design and Implementation: Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  2. Automation: Design, build and implement automation to improve production efficiency and quality.
  3. Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement: Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities and plan, implement to enhance operational efficiency.
  4. Quality Assurance: Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure that manufacturing processes meet industry standards and product specifications.
  5. Equipment Selection and Maintenance: Make technical decisions for the purchase of new manufacturing equipment. Coordinate maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment to ensure minimal downtime.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Apply lean manufacturing and six sigma principles to eliminate waste, improve processes, and reduce variability in production.
  7. Documentation and Compliance: Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, such as process flow charts, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
  8. Collaboration and Support: Work with product development engineers to integrate new products into the manufacturing process. Provide technical support and training to production staff.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is a requirement.
  2. Minimum 10 years of proven shop floor/plant floor manufacturing engineering experience within the Automotive industry.
  3. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technology.
  4. Experience with CAD software and proficiency in designing manufacturing layouts.
  5. Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
  8. Willingness to travel as needed to support manufacturing operations at other sites or to evaluate new technologies and equipment.

NOTE: May require availability outside of traditional working hours to resolve urgent production issues or to support project deadlines. Position is full time in the plant (NOT Remote/hybrid).
