Position Summary

Who Are We Looking For?

Slocan Community Health Centre has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Administrative Services Assistant to join their team in New Denver, B.C. When scheduled, this position works day shifts from 09:00 to 17:00.

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week. Many careers with us begin with casual employment and lead to permanent or temporary career opportunities.

What Will You Work On?

In this role, you will perform a variety of reception, administrative, and Health Unit Aide support duties including:

  1. Data entry
  2. Gathering, organizing, collecting, collating, and verifying information
  3. Typing correspondence and preparing presentations
  4. Arranging meetings, typing agendas, and taking/transcribing minutes
  5. Booking travel
  6. Performing reception duties and record management
  7. Scheduling and confirming client appointments
  8. Receiving, recording, and checking balances of cash transactions
  9. Maintaining and cleaning medical/surgical supplies, equipment, and HCIS resource material

Clinical support for this role includes:

  1. Cleaning, setting up, and dismantling rooms
  2. Cleaning/sanitizing toys and equipment
  3. Weighing and measuring babies
  4. Calibrating equipment and conducting vision screenings
  5. Cleaning medical equipment and instruments
  6. Delivering supplies and biologicals

You may also work with clients who may be confused, anxious, angry, or difficult.

Qualifications

Education, Training & Experience

  • Grade 12
  • Graduation from a recognized Office Administration Certificate Program, Plus
  • One year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Completion of a Typing Test at 40 wpm dated within the past 48 months and must be issued from a valid institution only. (NON-SUPERVISED TESTS ARE NOT ACCEPTED)
  • Current valid BC Driver's License
