The York Region District School Board (YRDSB) supports a flexible working culture and currently provides the opportunity for employees to work from home in addition to working in the office for some positions. The YRDSB implemented Working From Home Guidelines to facilitate this work option. Please note, this does not apply for school-based positions.

In compliance with Board policies and procedures, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Superintendent of Schools in the performance of their administrative and portfolio responsibilities and where appropriate responds to inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders of the Board.

Major Responsibilities

  • To attend assigned committee meetings and perform various clerical and administrative actions arising from committee deliberations.
  • To prepare correspondence, collective agreements, Board reports, minutes, and agenda packages and maintain their records as required.
  • To research collective agreements, policies, procedures, minutes, Board memos, and guidelines for the Superintendent of Schools.
  • To schedule, coordinate, and liaise with staff and the public on behalf of the Superintendent of Schools.
  • To ensure set up for meetings and presentation equipment is in good working order.
  • To coordinate all professional services and act as a resource for the Superintendent of Schools.
  • To coordinate, maintain, prepare, and schedule Superintendent of Schools calendars.
  • To coordinate, organize, direct, and manage special events as required.
  • To support and participate in internal and external committees and associations pertinent to Education and Community Services.
  • To anticipate and manage emerging and potentially sensitive issues.
  • To perform other duties as assigned.
Line Of Responsibility
  • Responsible to the Superintendent of Schools - West.
Education, Experience, And Qualifications
  • A two-year college diploma in business, office administration, or equivalent, as approved by the Board, is required.
  • Minimum five years in executive office administration or related experience is required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, political and public relations acumen, and information technology skills are required. Familiarity with a variety of software suitable for office and business applications is essential.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board is required.

A Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) must be completed by the police services in the jurisdiction in which you reside, based on your home address (only accepted by police services within Canada); must be satisfactory to the YRDSB and completed within six (6) months prior to the scheduled start date. It is the candidate's responsibility to provide the results to the Board upon instruction.
