We are seeking an Adjudicator, Disability Claims to join our BPA team in Vaughan.

As a disability claims adjudicator, you will make initial short term disability claim decisions based on eligibility requirements. You will work directly with clients by assessing their functional abilities, exploring opportunities for return to work, and coordinating referrals for expedited care to promote speedier recoveries and return to health.
The Adjudicator, Disability Claims will:
- Review short term disability applications to determine initial eligibility and entitlement to benefits based on medical and contractual requirements
- Ensure applications are complete and all pertinent information secured for the assessment of the claim
- Evaluate claims by communicating with clients, employers, and health professionals and collecting any additional documentation required for the adjudication of the claim
- Assess functional abilities to determine work-readiness and coordinate suitable return to work
- Coordinate expedited treatment and assessments
- Communicate decisions to clients both verbally and in writing
- Resolve client issues in an accurate and timely manner
- Oversee case until return to work or refer claim internally for case management
To be successful as an Adjudicator, Disability Claims with BPA, you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a health-related field
- Minimum two years experience in a medical, benefits administration, or claims setting;
- Understanding of medical and mental health conditions and treatments
- Strong assessment and decision-making skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrate ability to respond effectively to challenging and time-sensitive situations
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality in handling confidential medical information
- Ability to effectively manage and resolve conflict
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literacy – MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
