Job description

On behalf of WCB Nova Scotia, Venor is recruiting for an Adjudicator.

Pursuant to the Workers’ Compensation Act, we provide workplace injury insurance to workers and employers in Nova Scotia. Every day, our employees work to reduce the human and financial impact of workplace injury. We work to prevent workplace injuries, but when it occurs, we are there to provide security from its impact to workers and their families.

WCB Nova Scotia is seeking a service-oriented, adaptable, analytical thinker with strong decision-making skills to join their Service Delivery and Workplace Services Team. The work of an Adjudicator includes a wide range of activities centered around managing medium-risk claims under the case management methodology. This includes the initial adjudication of entitlement and setting of initial rates and seeing claims through to completion.

The work of Adjudicators consists of a number of tasks including:

  1. Determining client eligibility for permanent impairment benefits;
  2. Monitoring and evaluating claims by developing an action plan;
  3. Liaising with employers, unions, and service providers;
  4. Helping clients make a safe and timely return to work;
  5. Approval and authorization of services and benefits for injured workers on an ongoing basis, including earnings replacement benefits, medical aid and permanent impairment benefits;
  6. Assessment of entitlement to wage loss replacement per the Workers’ Compensation Act and Workers’ Compensation Board policy.

About You

As a successful Adjudicator, you will possess a university degree in health care, education, or social sciences. You have 2 years’ experience performing low or medium risk case management in a decision-making capacity in a patient-care, social service, health care, insurance, disability case management, or related environment. Travel is a requirement; candidates must have a valid driver’s license and daily use of a dependable, safe automobile.

As safety champions, all employees are responsible for following safe work procedures; using personal protective and safety equipment as required; knowing and complying with all regulations; reporting any illness or injury immediately to their manager; reporting unsafe acts and unsafe conditions; and cooperating with occupational health and safety initiatives.

The Offer

We offer a competitive compensation package including a salary range of $63,239 – $79,037.

Interested candidates can send their resume to Natalie Isaacs via natalie@venor.ca.

Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the completion of all applicable background checks and confirmation of credentials, the results of which must be satisfactory to the WCB.

At Venor, we value and celebrate diversity. We welcome applications from all individuals of any race, color, religion, gender identity, orientation, national origin, or disability status.

WCB Nova Scotia is an equal opportunity employer committed to supporting and developing our employees.
