Job Title: Addictions Counselor

Reports To: Clinical Manager

Position Status: Full-Time Permanent

Hours: 30-35 hours per week

Location: Virtual

Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Virtual Addictions Counselor to provide remote counseling services for individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The ideal candidate will offer individual and group counseling sessions, support clients in developing recovery plans, and utilize evidence-based treatment modalities to foster long-term recovery. This position is ideal for a self-motivated professional comfortable working in a virtual setting.


Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling via telehealth platforms
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and relapse prevention groups
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, case managers, and medical professionals
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and ethical guidelines
  • Provide crisis intervention support as needed
  • Stay informed on current research, best practices, and advancements in addiction treatment
  • Offer ongoing support, accountability, and resources to clients in recovery
  • Process and complete necessary documentation in a timely manner
  • Monitor program calendars and coordinate group sessions or special events
  • Create and manage appointments & client rosters within telehealth platform
  • Maintain up-to-date client administration records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance
  • Support leadership with administrative tasks such as managing program reports and documentation
  • Assist with technology support for virtual platforms used in client sessions and team meetings
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and accreditation standards
  • Support implementation of quality assurance and improvement initiatives
  • Act as a point of contact for clients with administrative concerns, resolving issues promptly and professionally
  • Provide reminders for appointments, program updates, and other client-facing communications
Qualifications
Education & Preferred Experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional and empathetic demeanor
  • Current licensure with CACCF
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in EMR systems, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a remote environment
  • Commitment to confidentiality, ethical standards, and client-centered care

  • Organization and precision in all areas of the job
  • Able to multi-task and an eye for detail
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently when required and in group settings when required
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, specifically in regard to reporting
  • Knowledge of theory, principles, and practices in the field of addictions
Additional Information

This position is required to work in a stressful environment often dealing with clients in crisis situations. The ability to function independently and frequently under pressure while managing multiple concurrent duties, including managing emergency situations, is an expectation of this job. This is a remote position requiring a dedicated workspace and reliable internet connection. Schedule includes rotating evening hours.
