Job description

The Child Care team is dynamic, supportive, and growing! Are you ready to work with a team to make a difference in children's lives? We are looking for folks who are energetic, active, responsible, and caring! Flexible shifts available during the week, Monday - Friday. Hours are 6:30am to 8:30am and/or 2:00pm - 6:00pm.

Reporting to the Child Care Manager, the Activity Program Leader is a key member of the Child Care team, who will:

  • Lead high quality program planning, incorporating the Y’s values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Caring, and Inclusiveness
  • Maintain safety and supervision in accordance with provincial licensing requirements and standards
  • Build healthy relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Actively interacts with children ages 5-12 as a play partner and homework helper
  • Support implementation of play based educational programming, including interactive play, literacy, mathematics, science, building, drama, games, team building, daily physical activity, and sports
  • Participate in YMCA of Southern Interior BC community initiatives

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Must be 19 years of age (as per provincial licensing standards)
  • Minimum 20 hours of professional development relating to children’s health, nutrition, safety, development and/or guidance (Responsible Adult Certificate)*
  • Valid class 4 operator’s license required (training available)
  • Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR level B or C
  • Paid educational opportunities may be available for Early Childhood Educator Assistant Certification.
