Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounts Payable Specialist will be a key team member within the accounting operations of our rapidly growing company. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounts payable of the company, assisting with the preparation of financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

What you'll do:

1. Process and pay invoices accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with agreements and pricing.
2. Adhere to Canadian cannabis industry regulations in all financial transactions and record-keeping.
3. Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with vendors.
4. Reconcile expenses, verify transaction accuracy, and produce regular accounts payable reports.
5. Implement and uphold internal controls to prevent errors and fraud in the accounts payable process.
6. Support financial audits by providing thorough and organized accounts payable documentation.
7. Utilize and maintain accounts payable and ledger software, staying abreast of technological improvements.
8. Address billing discrepancies and disputes swiftly to maintain vendor relationships and financial accuracy.
9. Other duties as assigned.

What we need from you:

1. A diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
2. High accuracy and attention to detail in processing financial documents and managing data.
3. 1-3 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience, with preference given to candidates who have worked in the retail or cannabis industry.
4. Proficiency in QBO required, as well as MS Excel, and additional data entry.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills for dealing with vendors, colleagues, and management.
6. Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and solve problems effectively.
7. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, capable of meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
8. Ability to work well within a team and collaborate with other departments.
9. Flexibility to adapt to changing regulations and company needs, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities as required.

Compensation: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
