Compensation Range: $28.43- $33.22/hour

Position Summary:

ErinoakKids is currently seeking a team-oriented, customer-focused individual to fill the position of Accounts Payable Clerk. As a key member of the Finance department, and reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for various accounting tasks including full cycle accounts payable, journal entries, and account reconciliations. This role ensures compliance with Ministry Information System (MIS) guidelines for coding of accurate expenses as it relates to payables invoices, recording of HST, and appropriate approvals based on signing authority. This position will act as a subject matter expert for the Accounts Payable Meditech modules and is highly involved with the year-end audit. This position will build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide professional financial assistance in alignment with organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for full cycle accounts payable;
  2. Preparation and posting of assigned journal entries;
  3. Reconcile assigned Account Reconciliations;
  4. Review invoices and resolve discrepancies through discussions with staff members (i.e. Purchasing), as required;
  5. Ensure all invoices and travel claims have appropriate authorization and adherence to corporate policies;
  6. Ensure that the coding of invoices and travel claims meet MIS standards;
  7. Ensure that HST is recorded/charged appropriately in Meditech;
  8. Reconciliation of vendor statements to ensure ErinoakKids records are complete and accurate and investigate issues where discrepancies are identified;
  9. Provide support for the year-end audit as required;
  10. Support staff with queries regarding accounts payable;
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Post-secondary College Diploma (2 years), specializing in Accounting preferred;
  2. 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role preferred;
  3. Computer skills including experience with Excel, Word, and Meditech is preferred;
  4. Excellent communication (written and verbal), problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
  5. Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment;
  6. Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and handle a high volume of work;
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  8. Sense of initiative and accountability, and able to work with minimal supervision.
