Job description

Our client within residential property management requires an Accounting Manager to join their team. The Accounting Manager will play a critical role in supporting the financial reporting function and advancement of the department’s projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the reporting and budgeting of the management company, including account reconciliation and preparation of journal entries.
  • Support the Controller(s) on a wide range of finance and operating initiatives, including ensuring the company has the necessary financing in place to facilitate acquisitions, development and ongoing operations.
  • Assist in the annual forecasting and budgeting process.
  • Along with the Controllers, is responsible for the planning and preparation for the annual external audit. Assist the Controllers in overseeing the preparation and analysis of financial reports, statements, and performance metrics for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Serve as a business partner to other functions of the finance team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial planning and analytics (FP&A) and payroll.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including property management, development, and operations, to drive financial performance and operational excellence.
  • Provides support on acquisition opportunities and onboarding of assets.
  • Key stakeholder in special projects, such as system conversions and other IT initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field as well as CPA designation.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting.
  • 3 years’ management experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles.
  • Knowledge in ASPE.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of success in real estate finance, property management, or related industries considered to be an asset.
  • Must be a positive contributor to our team-based environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian financial regulations, accounting principles, and tax laws.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve exceptional results and continuous development.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively present financial information to diverse audiences.
  • A reputable individual with high ethical standards and a longer-term business perspective.
