Job Description
Accounting Generalist
The Accounting Generalist will assist the Credit Manager with billing, accounts payable duties, vacation coverage, and other tasks as assigned. This role requires exercising discretion to maintain confidentiality with the hotel's financial records. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure will ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the work performed.
- Accurately verify and process invoices to ensure timely and accurate supplier payments.
- Address and resolve Accounts Payable vendor disputes and inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Maintain strong collaboration and communication with purchasing and receiving teams to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Reconcile Accounts Payable vendor statements and resolve discrepancies as required.
- Calculate and process weekly travel agent commissions, addressing related inquiries.
- Perform month-end Accounts Payable accruals and physical inventory counting.
- Provide support to the Credit Manager and respond to guest inquiries as needed.
- Offer coverage during staff absences to ensure continuity of accounting operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and department.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with a strong working knowledge of Opera (PMS) and the GFS Sun system is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in hotel accounting is preferred.
- Post-secondary diploma in accounting or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Highly organized with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, efficient, and able to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable, responsible, and committed to meeting deadlines.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to fulfill all key responsibilities and tasks.
- Strong commitment to adhering to local and corporate policies and procedures.
