About us

Demeter Veterinary Services is part of a Canadian team of 20 veterinarians dedicated to the swine industry. The head office is located in St-Nicolas, Quebec, while operations are performed from Woodstock, Ontario. We support swine producers in Ontario, but also across Canada through the collaboration with 3 other veterinary offices and pharmacies (Quebec, Manitoba and Alberta). Customer service and support is our top priority. Your first priority will be to serve Ontario producers. In addition, you will also work closely with the full DVS team in order to continuously improve the different services provided to the entire Canadian customer base.

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with payroll functions. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in various accounting software. The Accounting Clerk will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations. We are in the process of moving the accounting processes from our partner office in Quebec to our Woodstock office, so tasks will be added to the job as we proceed with this transition.

Duties

Accounts Receivable:

  • Generating and issuing invoices
  • Sending invoices to clients and following up on payments
  • Sending monthly statements to customers
  • Receiving and processing payments
  • Following up on any discrepancies

Accounts Payable:

  • Reviewing statements and reconciling accounts
  • Entering AP invoices into the system
  • Processing payments to suppliers electronically or by cheque
  • Processing credit card expenses
  • Processing miscellaneous expenses

General:

  • Answering accounting phone calls
  • Managing the accounting email inbox

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Sage, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft, ADP, or Xero is preferred.
  • Strong skills in account reconciliation and budgeting practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and other departments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • An ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite.
  • This position interacts with a variety of persons, so building positive relationships is essential.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00-$25.00 per hour
