Job description

Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position for a one-year term based at our Saskatoon Office.

The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently announced (2024) approval by the Board of Directors for the project to proceed to the formal construction phase with initial production expected in Q4 2025. The McIlvenna Bay deposit’s core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.

As part of the Finance Team, the Accounting Clerk will support general accounting functions and assist with accounts payable processes. This role will play a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations during a period of increased workload related to construction activities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review vendor setup and banking information forms for accuracy.
  • Set up new vendors within the ERP system.
  • Process journal entries and maintain financial records in the ERP system.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations as required.
  • Assist in the month-end invoice accrual process.
  • Fulfill audit requirements by preparing necessary documentation.
  • Provide backfill and support for accounts payable functions to manage increased workload.
  • Verify and reconcile vendor statements, resolving discrepancies or issues as necessary.
  • Communicate with vendors to address inquiries and resolve payment-related issues.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical files for invoices, payments, and other related documents.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely and accurate financial operations.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned to support the Finance Team.

Job Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in accounting or similar role, mining experience considered an asset.
  • College diploma or certificate in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Previous accounting experience, including journal entries, reconciliations, or accounts payable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with Accounting Software, large ERP experience considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial tasks.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective vendor communication and internal collaboration.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and accounts payable procedures.
  • Problem-solving skills to resolve discrepancies and issues related to invoices and payments.
  • Discretion and understanding of the confidentiality of financial and sensitive information.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $70,000/year based on experience and qualifications. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
