Key Responsibilities
Prepare accounts for review
Draft and finalize client invoices
Attend to all incoming billing related inquiries including invoices, billing templates and billing issues
Review and submit invoices to client systems using various ebilling platforms
Track and monitor invoice status
Investigate rejection notifications and work to resolve issues impacting successful submissions
Data entry (posting cash receipts, disbursements, etc.)
Analyze WIP, disbursements, trust balances and aged WIP • Process expense reports, credit card payments and reimbursement to client accounts
Reconcile firm credit card transactions
Liaise with vendors and deal with payment inquiries
Post and process accounts payable
Maintain and process an accurate accounting of all trust funds held by the firm in accordance with the Law Society of Ontario’s regulations
Maintain day-to-day relations with the bank and assist with resolving any banking related issues
Process/prepare daily cheques for both trust and general
Prepare various reports and statistical information requested by lawyers (ie. aged accounts receivable, time reports, work in progress, etc.)
Attend to financial inquiries from clients, lawyers and staff
Assist with year-end audit as required
Create and update rates and matter information as required
Provide assistance/coverage to members of the accounting team, as needed
Qualifications
3+ years’ accounting experience in a law firm
Experience with trust accounting and knowledge of Law Society of Ontario rules
Strong computer skills (Excel, Outlook, PC Law)
Must have working knowledge of the e-billing process
Experience with e-billing software
Good people skills and an ability to work effectively within a team
Excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
