Job description

Job Summary
Immediate full-time position available for an accounting clerk located in Fort McMurray. Looking for a team player that is self-motivated and requires minimal supervision to help us build and expand the accounting and financial aspects of our business. This position will consist of Monday to Friday, 6 to 8-hour days. The ideal candidate will work closely with the General Manager to ensure the accuracy and integrity of information being submitted into the accounting software. Prior industry experience will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing accurate and complete billing cycles, for all data entry through to creation and mailing of invoices to customers; bank reconciliations; ensure reconciliation of invoices to receiving paperwork/spreadsheets.
  • Assist in the collection of aged accounts receivable.
  • Assist General Manager with reconciliation of monthly rental fleet spreadsheets.
  • Manage the accounts payable subledger to ensure vendor statements are reconciled; payments are managed and authorized in accordance with our cheque run procedures.
  • Support changing over to new payroll system.
  • Calculate and submit quarterly GST reports to CRA.
  • Maintain and continually update capital asset spreadsheet.
  • Compile monthly reports as required.

Experience

  • Previous experience as an Accounting Clerk or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with accounting software is essential.
  • A degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accounting position including proficiency in account reconciliations, financial reporting, internal controls, and business process improvements.
  • Sufficient knowledge of Sage 50 accounting software with experience in all modules.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Capable of working independently and as a team, reliable with a positive attitude.
  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy in all work performed.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Expected hours: 40 per week
