Career Opportunity

The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre is looking to hire for the position of Accounting Clerk in our Finance Department. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position is responsible for Accounts Payable and designated areas of Accounts Receivable, and supporting the Intermediate and Senior Accountant with daily tasks and month-end reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Processes payments daily for deposits on future events, ensuring that details agree to contracts forwarded by event managers.
  2. Process payments for outstanding invoices.
  3. Prepares daily bank deposits and reconciles to associated cash receipt journals.
  4. Complete full cycle accounts payable function, which includes entering invoices, and reconciling cleared cheques.
  5. Concur Expense Management staff setup.

Accounts Receivable

  1. Processes event deposits (cheque, credit card and wire transfer), deposit/receipt letters and reconciles to associated cash receipt journals and updates deposit due reports and client accounts. Manage client information within Moneris as related to credit card payments.
  2. Upon implementation of the Momentus Payments module (internal CRM software), learn the system and be main point of contact for all processing issues or concerns and liaise with Momentus team if needed.
  3. All other ad-hoc event payment processes as they arise.

Accounts Payable

  1. Complete accounts payable data entry daily and generate all vendor payments.
  2. Manage Concur payments (personal card reimbursements).
  3. Reconcile vendor statements to accounts payable in system.
  4. Complete the bi-monthly cheque/EFT/Wire Transfer process.
  5. Ensure accounts payable for month is entered prior to month end cutoff and monitoring and management of the accounts payable email box.
  6. Complete any accruals required at month end for accounts payable.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs data entry of non-event sales payments (cash, credit card and debit card payment) received by Guest Services.
  2. Support Intermediate Accountant during their absence.
  3. Performs other accounting tasks as required.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Job-Related Skills

  1. It is essential to have the ability to multi-task, be customer service focused and to be detail oriented to produce accurate work.
  2. Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), organizational, time management and intermediate level computer skills (Microsoft Office, etc.).
  3. Attention to detail, accuracy, and data-entry/keying efficiency.
  4. Must be comfortable learning new computer programs.

Education

  1. Accounting certification or diploma is an asset but not required.

Experience & Assets

  1. Minimum 2 years previous experience in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  1. Self-motivated individual who works well in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
