Job Title: Accounts Payable Clerk
Summary of Functions:
Waste Connections of Canada is a leading non-hazardous solid waste management company in North America. We are looking for a SAFETY inclined, energetic, autonomous, and proactive team player who can make a difference in their team and community. We have an immediate opening for an Accounts Payable Clerk in Ajax ON.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring the district’s PO system is accurate and complete and that all documents are approved.
- Ensure adequate details (i.e. LOB, Cost Centre, description) for each purchase order is provided, along with any applicable supporting documentation.
- Ensure that all invoices are approved and a PO number is recorded on the invoice prior to scanning into the system for processing.
- Processes invoices against approved purchase orders within Toolbox.
- Coordinates with Management on payment of transactions that have discrepancies.
- Process p-card transactions within Toolbox.
- Enter/create new vendor requests within Toolbox with applicable supporting documentation (i.e. vendor contact information, completed W-9 form for US vendors).
- Maintains and files all invoices as required for the district.
- Reconciles various accounts (i.e. disposal accounts) and vendor statements.
- Coordinates with dispatchers on any discrepancies on monthly reports.
- Daily entry of all customer payments.
- Contact credit references, and/or obtain and review customer credit history, when required.
- Cover overflow in Accounts Receivable, i.e. collection calls, AR adjustments, reconciliations, etc.
- Perform other accounting/admin duties as requested by the District Controller.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of related accounting experience or post-secondary level studies.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- An aptitude for numbers and data accuracy.
- Intermediate Excel Skills.
- Full Cycle accounting experience is an asset.
- Great Interpersonal and Time Management skills.
- Strong communication skills with customers and suppliers (both written and verbal).
