Our client, one of Western Canada's leading window and door manufacturers, is looking for an Assistant Accounting Manager to join their team in Edmonton. The Assistant Accounting Manager collaborates closely with the Accounting Manager to supervise the company's financial operations and reporting.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Support financial analysis for informed decision-making and strategic planning, including assessing investment opportunities, cost-saving measures, and revenue-enhancing activities.
  • Oversee full-cycle accounting functions, including managing general accounting operations, preparing government remittances (GST/PST), processing payroll, and handling corporate tax in line with statutory deadlines.
  • Prepare accounting reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Work with department heads to create annual budgets and forecasts, monitor deviations from budgeted figures, and offer insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure accuracy in financial recordings and adherence to accounting standards (ASPE), procedures, and internal controls.
  • Lead special projects aimed at enhancing accounting practices, establish priorities, and introduce new ideas to solve problems and boost efficiency.
  • Prepare and coordinate fiscal year-end audit working papers, acting as the liaison with external auditors.
  • Guide, mentor, and support direct reports to ensure the smooth operation of the accounting department and foster strong interdepartmental relationships.
WHO YOU ARE:
  • 2-5 years experience as a General Accountant & 2+ years experience in a supervisory role.
  • Experience using Financial Software, Sage Systems, MS Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in business or a finance-related discipline.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or in progress is an asset.
