Accounting Analyst - Cost Accounting (3 months)

We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. This role is responsible for month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and cost analysis to ensure accurate financial records and provide insights into cost control and efficiency.

About the Opportunity

Month-End Close & Journal Entries:

1. Prepare and post cost-related journal entries (e.g., inventory adjustments, accruals, overhead allocations).
2. Ensure timely and accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations and expense recognition.
3. Maintain work-in-progress (WIP) and inventory accounts, ensuring proper valuation.

Reconciliation & Financial Accuracy:

1. Perform monthly reconciliations of inventory accounts, cost accruals, and other cost-related accounts.
2. Investigate and resolve variances between actual and standard costs.
3. Reconcile general ledger accounts related to cost accounting, including material, labor, and overhead.

Cost Reporting & Analysis:

1. Generate and analyze cost reports, identifying trends and variances.
2. Prepare gross margin and profitability analysis for management review.
3. Assist in monitoring cost reduction initiatives and process improvements.

Budgeting & Forecasting Support:

1. Assist in preparing cost estimates for budgeting and forecasting.
2. Support operational teams by providing insights into cost drivers and efficiency improvements.

Compliance & Process Improvement:

1. Ensure adherence to internal controls, GAAP, and company policies.
2. Identify opportunities to enhance cost accounting processes and implement best practices.

About You

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, general accounting, or financial analysis.
3. Strong understanding of GAAP, inventory accounting, and cost allocation.
4. Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Excel.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.

Pay Rate:
$35/Hour
