THE OPPORTUNITY

Western Forest Products is hiring for an Accounting & Administrative Associate to join our Timber Supply Finance Team based in Campbell River.

What You’ll Do: The Accounting & Administrative Associate is responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations by managing front desk and reception duties while providing key support to the accounting team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop foundational accounting skills with exposure to financial systems and processes, paving the way for future growth in an accounting career.

Who You Are: You are a detail-oriented and organized professional with a university diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. With 1-3 years of experience in similar roles, you have developed strong multitasking skills and a keen attention to detail. You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Your ability to learn new software and processes quickly sets you apart, and prior experience in reception, data entry, or basic accounting is an asset. You are a self-starter with a strong aptitude for systems, outgoing and friendly yet professional, and open to advancing within the finance team or other areas of the organization.

What We Offer:
  1. Salary range of $47,000 - $53,000 based on skill level, qualifications, and experience;
  2. Annual incentive plan;

Work Environment: This role is to be performed in our Campbell River office, B.C.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide professional front desk and reception support, greeting visitors and managing calls and correspondence;
  2. Maintain office supplies and ensure an organized, welcoming reception area;
  3. Assist with scheduling, filing, and general administrative tasks;
  4. Perform accurate data entry for accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing and reconciliations;
  5. Support accounting functions by preparing journal entries, assisting with financial reports, and ensuring data integrity;
  6. Contribute to month-end and year-end processes;
  7. Gain hands-on experience with the Finance ERP system, maintaining accurate financial records;
  8. Prepare and format reports, documents, and spreadsheets in Microsoft Word and Excel;
  9. Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems;
  10. Assist with drafting internal communications and documentation;
  11. Other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  1. University Diploma in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration;
  2. 1-3 years of experience in similar roles.

Skills, Knowledge And Required Competencies:
  1. Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail;
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  4. Ability to learn new software and processes quickly;
  5. Prior experience in reception, data entry, or basic accounting is an asset but not required.
