Accountant

Great opportunity for an Accountant available immediately to join a very successful and well-established international company in an exciting industry.

This is a 6-week contract to fill in for someone currently on leave, with a possible extension.

What - the Role:

The Accountant is responsible for overseeing complete journal entries and general accounting-related tasks for the month-end close activities for our client.

• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions such as, but not limited to, reporting, account coding, reviewing payables, and calculations for entries.
• Review and post AP batch transactions, manage cash balances, and process bank payments.
• Prepare and enter journal entries including system downloads into the accounting system to meet month-end accounting requirements.
• Provide month-end reconciliations to the GL and prepare weekly and/or monthly reports and statements.
• Assist with global reporting requirements and support internal & external audits.
• Positively drive agreed initiatives, propose new initiatives, and adopt a sense of continuous improvement.

Who - the Candidate:

• A degree in Finance or Accounting and preferably enrolled in obtaining your CPA designation.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the industry.
• Experience with Oracle and Maximo systems is an asset.
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage timelines.
• Exceptional computer skills and ability to quickly learn new software.
• A willingness to take initiative to solve problems and a desire to identify process improvements.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clear and concise information with all departments and levels in an accurate and informative manner.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with your team and other departments.

How Much:

$34.50 - $35.50 + 4% vacation pay.
