Athabasca University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is recruiting for an Academic Coordinator, Anthropology.
This is a part-time (0.2FTE) term position July 1, 2025 to August 14, 2026.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences offers a diverse range of courses and programs in education, distance education, humanities, interdisciplinary studies, and social sciences.
The Position:
The Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the teaching, administration and maintenance of Athabasca University's Anthropology 272, 277, 320, 377, 390, 394, and 476 asynchronous undergraduate courses. Coordinator duties include supervising and monitoring the performance of course tutors, handling student issues (e.g. grade appeals, course credit challenges, academic misconduct cases, transfer credit requests), and providing service to the Centre for Social Sciences (e.g. attending meetings held by the Centre and by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences).
Qualifications:
Athabasca University is hiring an academic coordinator with expertise in archaeology/anthropology. A minimum of a Master's degree in Archaeology or Anthropology is required; a PhD is preferred. Experience in distance learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies would also be preferred assets.
