Academic Cardiac Electrophysiologist
Description
The Department of Medicine and the Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute is looking for a full-time academic cardiologist with specialization in electrophysiology.
The successful applicant would join a group of 42 cardiologists at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI). UOHI is a large tertiary centre providing cardiovascular care to Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The University of Ottawa Heart Institute is Canada’s largest and foremost heart health centre.
The Division is renowned for delivery of outstanding cardiac care, excellence in education at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and recognized internationally for its research, particularly in electrophysiology, cardiac imaging, and other areas.

Responsibilities
The successful applicant would join a group of nine cardiac electrophysiologists comprising the arrhythmia service at UOHI. The team performs over 1500 ablations and 1500 device implants per year in four state-of-the-art electrophysiology labs.
The applicant, based on their career track, would be expected to provide in-patient ward service, participate in out-patient clinics, work in our electrophysiology labs and device clinic, and participate in teaching and research.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; be a member of, or be eligible to be a member of, the Canadian Medical Protective Association; have, or be eligible for certification in Cardiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Canada, and have, or be eligible for, licensure in Ontario. The ideal candidate will have a significant academic profile, with a demonstrated track record of high-quality research.
Academic appointment ranking is determined by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa based on qualifications and experience. However, we are targeting applications from those who qualify for Associate Professor or above.
Job Benefits
The income for this position is derived from a variety of sources including but not limited to clinical billings (fee-for-service), salary support (AFP) as well as honorariums/stipends. Health and welfare benefits including extended health, dental and disability insurance as well as life insurance are offered to full-time physicians. The income range for this opportunity is estimated to be $500-600K annually.
