Overview

The President of the Federation of Mountain Clubs of BC is responsible for leading the organization and representing its interests in advocating for non-motorized recreation. This role requires a dynamic, passionate leader with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have experience engaging with governments at all levels, a commitment to diversity and inclusivity, and the ability to work collaboratively with Indigenous Peoples and underrepresented groups.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee the operations and strategic direction of the Federation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members and stakeholders.
  • Represent the Federation at industry conferences, events, and meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement organizational goals and objectives through strategic planning.
  • Monitor industry trends and developments to ensure the Federation remains innovative and relevant in addressing challenges like climate change and budget constraints.
  • Oversee financial health by managing budgets, developing fundraising strategies, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Ensure the Board of Directors comprises the skills and expertise needed to achieve the Federation’s mission.
  • Serve as the official media spokesperson for the Federation.

Requirements :

  • At least 10 years of leadership experience, ideally within a similar association or non-profit organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • A proven ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with our stakeholders, such as club members, government officials, Indigenous communities, underrepresented groups, and corporate partners.
  • Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and collaborate with teams.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, government operations, and emerging trends.
  • A commitment to fostering diversity, inclusivity, and belonging as the FMCBC strives to serve the broader community.
