Your Key Responsibilities
Receive, evaluate, and respond to 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls, dispatching regional and/or local Protective Services based on established protocols.
Monitor alarm systems and corporate emergency lines, coordinating appropriate responses.
Accurately enter and maintain incident data in various computer systems and generate required reports.
Maintain confidentiality of all information acquired on the job.
Perform administrative duties, including clerical tasks and back check queries, as required.
Attend all training mandated by the City of Medicine Hat Emergency Services to stay current with procedures and protocols.
Collaborate with emergency personnel, city staff, and the public, ensuring effective communication and coordination.

Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12 or High School Equivalency diploma.
Certification in Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) and Emergency Police Dispatch (EPD).
Standard First Aid & Level C CPR certification.
Previous experience in emergency dispatch or telecommunications is considered an asset.
Excellent vision (with corrective lenses if necessary) and no degree of color blindness.
Ability to meet hearing requirements, including passing a Hearing-in-Noise Test (HINT).
Successful completion of an emergency communications skills evaluation aptitude assessment.
Successful completion of a Police Security clearance.
