Position Summary: Reporting to the Professional Development Officer, the Professional Development Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Professional Development events, developing PD related materials, and planning the yearly professional development conference to assist members with their ongoing professional learning and career development needs. This involves researching session topics; vetting potential presenters, topics, materials, and third-party PD providers; and coordinating and producing live and virtual events from start to finish (including creating online registration forms, preparing and submitting event listings for the website, managing registration, introducing the speaker day of, and compiling and reviewing evaluation and feedback summaries post session). This role also includes researching trends and best practices in adult education to suggest alternate delivery modes.
Responsibilities:
- Research/Schedule professional development sessions to assist members in their professional learning.
- Sourcing PD presenters, evaluating presenter proposals and contacting potential speakers
- Sourcing, vetting, and promoting external PD opportunities to registrants
- Creating and maintaining registration and web page event listings for each session
- Coordinating arrangements with presenters and providing any support they require
- Sourcing and developing online learning opportunities as feasible
- Produce virtual events and hosting in-person events
- Liaise with office services for internal room arrangements and catering needs
- Compile, analyzing, and presenting survey summaries to the Career Development Team
- Publish and maintain PD virtual events in APEGA's Professional Development Centre
- Negotiate PD speaker fees under the direction of the Professional Development Officer and monitoring expenses for procuring speakers
- Administrate sessions so that the members may complete their mandatory requirements.
- Liaise with the Regulatory division and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure PD learning is in line with APEGA regulations and standards.
- Manage registration of participants
- Assist in planning and executing the yearly Professional Development Conference.
- Research/suggest possible speakers and topics and with approval, contracting speakers once approved by the Professional Development Officer and Career Development Manager.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote events and sponsorship.
- Provide training sessions for producers and provide any support they require
- Manage and produce the logistics of the speakers/rooms/materials/web listing on the day of the conference
- Compile and analyze survey summaries and present them to the Career Development team
- Assist the Outreach & Product Services team to support the success and improvement of all portfolios.

- Foundational knowledge of the APEGA Continuing Professional Development Program is an asset to better understand the purpose of providing PD and to be able to respond to simple inquiries
- Demonstrated knowledge of Adult Education principles and E-learning to aid in the research and implementation of new delivery methods
- High proficiency of Microsoft and Web applications (Word/Excel/Power Point)
- Demonstrated knowledge of event coordination (scheduling speakers, requesting materials, arranging promotion, registering participants, and summarizing evaluation data)
- Demonstrated knowledge of conference planning and promotion.
- Familiarity with web-based platforms and virtual conferences.

- Ability to build effective working relationships and demonstrate professionalism with internal and external presenters
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in order to handle the multitude of sessions at any given time
- Ability to collaborate with the Administrative Assistant, Career Development, on completion of administrative tasks
- Ability to collaborate with other departments to develop, promote, and deliver PD opportunities
Qualifications:- Post-secondary diploma in Business, Commerce, Adult Education or a related field
- 3-5 years of professional experience in education, adult learning, and career development is required
- Some knowledge of online educational principals would be considered an asset.
- Registration or eligibility for membership with the following associations would be considered an asset: Career Professionals of Canada, Career Development Association of Alberta, Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers or The Institute for Performance and Learning.
- Equivalencies may be considered.
