Position: Infant Development Consultant

Location: Parksville

Hours: 35 hours per week (temporary to June 30, 2025)

Salary: $38.68 – $47.20

Start Date: ASAP

We are looking for an Infant Development Consultant (IDC) to join our Child Development Services (CDS) team! Ideally, this individual will be a collaborative team player with experience working within a family-centered, child-focused, multi-disciplinary team.

Description Of Position

The Infant Development Program (IDP) provides services to families with children, birth to three years of age, who have an identified diagnosis, are delayed in one or more areas of development, or who are at risk of delay. Intervention is guided by a family centered philosophy and includes assessment, treatment planning and implementation of established goals, providing resource information, and referral to, and coordination with, additional services. The program supports families by providing primarily home visiting and outreach services; however, services may also be offered at the child development center. The program also allows for the provision of other services such as groups and educational programs. Additionally, the IDC collaborates with and builds on the community’s existing programs and services.

Reporting to: CDS Team Leader

General Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the CDS team to provide integrated, family centered service delivery.
  • Plans and provides developmentally appropriate services for children under three and their families in individual and/or group settings, such as tot’s group, infant massage, or parenting groups.
  • Assists families in identifying and supporting the needs of the child and family.

Program-specific Responsibilities

  • Supports families in accessing appropriate materials and resources as required.
  • Ensures all documentation is kept accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provides developmental assessments and written reports as required.
  • Engages in ongoing learning in relation to practice standards, the community and the organization.

Qualifications

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, child and youth care or another related discipline. - Mandatory
  • 2 years of experience working with infants and young children through a developmental lens preferred.
  • Experience providing developmental assessments would be an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Clear Criminal Records check - Mandatory
