Salary range: $107,736.77 to $126,749.14 annually

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is either a red seal designation or an undergraduate degree in a field related to the School of Trades and Transportation. A Graduate Degree would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of 7 years (full-time equivalent) of recent and progressive occupational experience in a field related to the School of Trades and Transportation. You have a minimum of five years experience (full-time equivalent) in a formal supervisory, management or leadership role.
  • Experience in your field includes formal teaching at a post-secondary level.
  • Experience managing physical and financial resources in order to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Occupational experience that includes community and industry engagement would be considered an asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and e-mail.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.
  • You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation.

Responsibilities

As the Academic Chair for the School of Trades and Transportation, you will:

  • Lead the delivery of full-time and apprenticeship programs at Kingstec Campus. You are responsible for all aspects of day-to-day academic operational requirements.
  • Working closely with faculty and your departmental team, assign and oversee the administrative work related to academic delivery to ensure the highest standard of quality, consistency in programming, and student success.
  • With your strategic and operational leadership, ensure academic integrity and program outcomes are met through efficient and effective management of all fiscal and human resources, while endorsing the application of adult education principles, within a safe work environment, and portfolio learning in a learning-centered college.
  • Be a key member of both Campus and School teams.
  • Work closely with the Principal and your campus managerial colleagues to provide leadership on day-to-day issues that occur on the campus related to operations and student issues.
  • Work closely with your provincial School colleagues to evaluate programming and assess changes to program curriculum and delivery; as well as opportunities to introduce new programming at the campus.
  • Use your established relationships in related sectors regionally and locally to inform programming and opportunities for students.

The Kingstec Campus of the Nova Scotia Community College is located in Kentville, Nova Scotia. The current portfolio includes approximately 18 direct staff reports and approximately 370 students (full-time & apprenticeship). Current programming includes full-time offerings in:

  • Automotive Service and Repair
  • Carpentry
  • CNC Machining
  • Electrical Construction and Industrial
  • Plumbing
  • Precision Machining
  • Truck and Transport Repair

As well as Apprenticeship sections in:

  • Automotive Service and Repair
  • Carpentry
  • Electrical Construction and Industrial
  • Plumbing
  • Truck and Transport Repair
