0211 Sessional Instructor EFDN 804 Spring Summer 2025

SESSIONAL INSTRUCTOR

INDIGENOUS EDUCATION GRADUATE STUDIES
SPRING SUMMER 2025 TERM

EFDN 804: Integration of Indigenous Knowledge Into School Curricula

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Through readings, interaction with cultural experts, and discussion, students will examine oral and written forms of Indigenous knowledge. Students will apply learnings of Indigenous knowledge systems to the integration of Aboriginal content and perspectives into school curricula and educational practice. (3 Credit Hours)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Teaching the course content following university academic guidelines;
  • Monitoring and facilitating class discussion forums and assigning associated grades to assigned cohort students;
  • Preparing course outlines, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades on time;
  • Providing support to students working on assignments;
  • Consulting with the Coordinator of Graduate Studies on academic or student-related matters as needed;
  • Other related duties as per the Collective Agreement, as this position is a unionized position.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preference given to those with a PhD or doctorate in a discipline relevant to the subject area;
  • Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment;
  • Superior communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with respect to academic reporting;
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment;
  • The ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset.

SALARY: Stipend Range based on qualifications: Sessional I is $7496, Sessional II is $7780, Sessional III is $8235.
