Summary of Position:
The Justice Program Specialist supports the MNO Advocacy Program with operational processes required for the program’s overall effectiveness and efficiency for ongoing service delivery in accordance with MNO’s strategic goals. This position will provide program support and assist in building connections with Ontario’s CJS partners to facilitate program growth and development. The Justice Program Specialist will act as the main evaluator of the program’s goals, objectives, and growth through sound data analysis and reporting. This position will work directly with the Program Manager to identify data trends, address growing priority needs, and create plans to adapt the program as necessary. In addition, this position is accountable for the oversight of the client records management system (OHATS).

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with others to facilitate program and partner capacity growth by building and maintaining connections with CJS partners.
  • Oversee performance measures and/or accountability frameworks to ensure the data directives are met in accordance with MNO strategic goals and funder requirements.
  • Contribute to project planning, budgeting in compliance with funding contracts, and overall Advocacy Program operational plans.
  • Interpret program data to identify trends and make recommendations for service, program, and system improvements.
  • Conduct monitoring of the MNO’s case management system and provide guidance and training to staff as required.
  • Generate comprehensive reports using program qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Complete program evaluation with the support of management and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Draft program specific policy and participate in the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.
  • Lead staff training and development in areas relating to data collection and documentation repository requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records through regular data audits.
  • Serve as an analytics specialist focusing on streamlining the management of data from various sources.
  • Collaborate with other programs to determine areas of improvement in relation to data collection.
  • Conduct and report a feasibility analysis for proposed projects.
  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of complex multifaceted special projects or events within the Program.
  • Provide support to the Program Supervisor and Manager as needed.
  • Other duties as reasonably assigned.

Qualifications:
  • A post-secondary degree in justice, criminology, or a related field
  • Experience or relevant education related to working in justice, criminology, justice data and policy, or a related field.
  • Experience in monitoring, tracking, and reporting performance measures.
  • Knowledge in working with client case management systems, specifically in quality assurance and data analytics.
  • Demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Suite – particularly Excel.
  • Strong communication skills – verbally and written.
  • Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens.
  • A high degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment.
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Superior organization skills and time/priority-management.
  • Highly detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and assess changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work alone/independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated understanding of policies, processes, practices, and documentation used to deliver program services.

Preferred:
  • Previous 2 years or more experience in a similar/comparable role
  • Knowledge of Métis-specific and broader Indigenous key challenges and programs.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting.

Positions at the MNO may require the following:
  1. Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain
  2. Completion and maintenance of Vulnerable Sector Verification
  3. A reliable vehicle, driver’s licence, $1,000,000 liability insurance, and a clean driving record
  4. Flexibility to work extended hours as necessary
  5. Ability to occasionally travel within Ontario for limited periods of time
