Description
Job Summary: Performs clerical duties for the unit including charting, filing, and transcription of orders. Coordinates unit communications such as telephone, patient, visitor, ancillary departments, and physician staff. Involves use of computer. Assists in maintaining a well-organized and functional unit. Performance expectations are defined in the competency evaluation.

Job Responsibilities:
- Performs clerical/secretarial duties in a timely and accurate manner.
- Performs effective communication.
- Maintains equipment, supplies, and records to facilitate unit organization.
- Performs ongoing chart reconciliation.
Qualifications
Education Requirements and Other Requirements:
Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Completion of a unit secretary course at an accredited school.
Certification/Licensure: N/A
Experience Requirements: Two years clerical/secretarial experience in a hospital setting acceptable in lieu of certification per discretion of unit director.
Working Conditions:
Exposure Category I: Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
