Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly driven Sales and Marketing Coordinator to join our team at Blue Mountains Tourism, the official local tourism organisation for the Blue Mountains. In this role, you will focus on growing our membership; driving sales of BMT’s marketing services, including digital and print advertising; and assisting with delivering our marketing services. We are looking for a motivated person with excellent people skills, eager to make a positive impact on the whole tourism economy of the Blue Mountains.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Membership Growth:
- Lead Generation: Identify and proactively reach out to potential members within the tourism sector to generate new membership and marketing leads.
- Membership Renewals: Manage the renewal process for members, ensuring timely renewals and maintaining a high level of member retention.
- Marketing Services Sales: Assist the General Manager (GM) with the sales of BMT’s digital and print marketing services to members and non-members.
- Marketing: Assist the GM with the timely delivery of BMT’s marketing services, including production, tracking and reporting.
- Target Achievement: Meet and exceed targets, reporting regularly on progress.
Industry and Membership Communication, Engagement and Retention:
- Member and Industry Communication: Work closely with the GM to maintain consistent communication with members to ensure they are fully engaged and maximizing the benefits of their membership, and with the industry to create a supportive tourism culture and to use industry communications as a lead generator for marketing services and membership.
Marketing:
- Marketing: Work with the GM to create compelling materials and campaigns to drive membership and industry engagement.
- Targeted Campaigns: Assist in the development and execution of targeted campaigns to reach segments of the tourism industry, such as attractions, travel agencies, or service providers.
- Digital Engagement: Leverage social media, digital marketing, and other tools to raise awareness about BMT’s membership and marketing services.
Event and Networking Opportunities:
- Event Promotion: Help promote industry events, webinars, networking meetings, and conferences.
- Representing the Organisation: Attend key tourism-related events to network with potential members and promote BMT’s services.
Data Management and Reporting:
- CRM: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of prospects and members in the CRM system, ensuring detailed tracking of interactions and follow-ups.
- Performance Metrics: Track and analyse sales performance, membership growth, and campaign effectiveness to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Reporting: Work closely and collaboratively with the GM regarding sales activity and membership growth.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, tourism, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- A minimum of two years’ experience in sales, membership acquisition, marketing and/or business development.
- Proven ability to generate leads, close sales, and achieve targets.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for relationship-building and customer service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic CRM software.
- Prior experience in membership sales or sales-driven roles, especially in a non-profit or tourism organisation.
- Experience using digital marketing tools and social media platforms.
- Shopify and/or membership software experience.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented and comfortable with sales.
- A team player.
