Description

Job Summary: Provides respiratory care services: safe, skillful, accurate and in an efficient manner, age-appropriate and population specific to patients of all ages under the direction of a physician, guided by department guidelines, policies, procedures and protocols. Work activities and assignments may be determined by demonstration of competency.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Assessment/Reassessment/Evaluation: Knowledgeable and skilled in clinical assessment of the respiratory system, pulmonary health, and respiratory pathophysiology, and applicable Respiratory Care Department guidelines, policies, and protocols.
2. Implementation: Knowledgeable and skilled in the assessment and care of respiratory patients, providing age-appropriate and population-specific patient care.
3. Patient/Family Education: Familiar with health education resources to provide information about respiratory health to patients/family.
4. Documentation and Communication: Thorough, accurate, and timely in completion of respiratory care documentation and communication of patient care information, demonstrating working computer skills and ability to navigate the Meditech system.

Qualifications

Education Requirements and Other Requirements:

Education Level: Currently enrolled in or graduated from a Respiratory Care Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or Paramedic/EMT Program.

Certification/Licensure:

Adult/Pediatric CPR certification required (available upon employment).

State of Illinois Professional License or permit.
