We are seeking a passionate and driven Reconciliation Action Lead to spearhead the development and implementation of our next Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with senior leaders and the RAP Working Group to drive meaningful change, ensuring progress towards RACQ’s commitment to reconciliation and strengthening our community impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and execution of RACQ’s next RAP, ensuring alignment with our commitment to reconciliation and driving meaningful progress towards our goals including managing the ongoing delivery of public reconciliation commitments and ensuring measurable outcomes.
  • Design and deliver cultural awareness training programs to enhance understanding, recognition, and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, knowledge, and rights, promoting a deeper cultural competency across the organisation.
  • Drive initiatives that focus on increasing the recruitment, retention, and professional development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, contributing to a more inclusive and diverse workforce at RACQ.
  • Oversee and lead the delivery of community projects and partnerships that have a direct and positive impact on Indigenous communities, focussing on improving social and economic outcomes in alignment with RACQ's reconciliation objectives.
  • Develop and sustain a RAP Working Group to provide governance and guidance for the implementation of the RAP, ensuring the group remains effective in driving strategic actions and includes diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.

About You

  • This is a designated Australian First Nations Identified role, as permitted under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (QLD), which specifies that the incumbent must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • Significant experience in supporting the development or successful implementation of an Innovate RAP or equivalent program, ensuring alignment with reconciliation objectives and measurable impact.
  • Strong track record of advising and collaborating with executive teams to drive organisational change, supporting the creation of inclusive cultures and achieving positive reconciliation outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams to deliver indigenous community-focused projects, managing all aspects of project delivery to ensure outcomes are achieved in a timely, cost-effective manner.
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories, with the ability to drive positive change, foster reconciliation, and build strong relationships with key community stakeholders, including Elders, leaders, organisations, and agencies, to ensure diverse voices are heard.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate, and engage stakeholders across all levels of the organisation and in external communities.
  • Ability to manage a diverse range of work activities simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality, timeliness, and efficiency in all deliverables.
  • Well-developed research, conceptual, and analytical skills, with the ability to assess challenges, identify opportunities, and implement strategic solutions effectively.
