The Payments domain within Business Banking brings together the people, processes, and technology that support real-time, bulk electronic, cheques, high-value, and international payment processing. Our team is responsible for ensuring that 40% of the Australian economy, with transactions totalling over $90 billion daily, runs smoothly. Payments systems are central to the bank, with almost every customer-facing channel relying on them. Within this domain, the Data Services Crew leads the bank’s payments data strategy, developing new customer propositions and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

As a Product Manager within the Payments Data Services Crew, you will work closely with our Payments Customer Reporting squads to deliver exceptional outcomes for our business stakeholders and customers. You’ll leverage your technical, customer, industry, commercial, regulatory, and domain expertise to resolve gaps and identify compelling customer propositions to enhance our product offerings for our Payments Customer Reporting and Data Feeds products.

This position is a permanent opportunity and reports to the Senior Product Manager, Payments Data Services.

Do work that matters

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the development of the Payments Customer System Reporting and Data Feeds strategy from solution to delivery.
  • Analyse market trends, customer preferences, regulations, and competitors to inform product development.
  • Support product/service offering development process, ensuring products are designed to meet market demands and regulatory expectations.
  • Coordinate across Domains, Business Units, and Support Units to ensure the Payments Domain aligns with Data feed priorities.
  • Collaborate with the team/squad to define, prioritise, and manage the backlog to achieve the team’s vision, goals, and roadmap.
  • Cross functional collaboration: Work closely with cross functional teams, including Client Maintenance, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Technology, and Distribution to ensure seamless product delivery as well as find effective solutions to high-value problems, ensuring resolution and maximising customer value.
  • Keep track of business planning initiatives and translate into actionable tasks for team, ensuring informed and strategic decisions.
  • Support team members in project activities, displaying agility and flexibility to take on various roles (Business Analyst/Product Manager/Data Analyst/Customer/Risk).
  • Monitor financial performance, optimising revenue and profitability.
  • Continuously improve the customer experience by reviewing and enhancing product features, benefits, and digital experience.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor product performance, KPIs, and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and growth opportunities.
  • Risk management: Proactively manage risks including performance of regular controls, robust product governance, identification of issues, escalation and swift resolution of issues including remediation.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Tertiary qualification in a Business / Commerce Degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial services and a strong background in product management, ideally within payments.
  • A track record of leading projects and delivering on a strategic roadmap.
  • Experience in an agile environment, enjoying collaboration and teamwork.
  • Analytical thinking, using data and insights for decision-making.
  • Advanced communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent planning and time management skills to handle competing priorities.
  • Strong commercial acumen and sound judgment to provide recommendations and insights.
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and recommend solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a flexible approach to navigating change.
