JOB OVERVIEW
Develop new engineered water filtration products and production processes. Provide technical support to customers and the business on engineered products and system design, engineering, operation, and manufacture.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Implement research and development programs for the development of new engineered water filtration products and manufacturing processes.
- Apply design thinking while working within the innovation process and product development lifecycle to design and develop new products.
- Develop, review and maintain technical product designs and technical drawings, working with Autodesk Inventor (or similar).
- Apply engineering tools to the design process (DFMEA, RCA, CAD, Rapid Prototyping, FEA), and translate design concepts into prototypes and full scale manufactured products.
- Assist in the identification and resolution of product and plant operating problems and the establishment of quality specifications and standards for incoming materials, in-process manufacture and finished products.
- Assist in the preparation of product and process specifications and operating procedures.
- Prepare reports on projects and/or trials.
- Ensure the application of sound scientific and engineering principles. Comply with relevant Acts, legal demands, ethical standards, and EHS safe work standards and work policies.
Experience & Abilities
- Tertiary Qualification in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5+ years Engineering experience with a strong understanding and aptitude for product design and development.
- Strong hands-on abilities in materials selection, prototyping, assembly, and product manufacturing processes.
- Excellent experience with solid modelling design software (eg Autodesk Inventor or similar), FEA (desirable), computers (incl MS Word & Excel) and mechanical calculations.
- Experienced in human centered design AND design for manufacture.
- Able to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently. Able to communicate and collaborate effectively, and consult with diverse stakeholders (customers, sales, marketing, production, operations). Able to work to deadlines.
- Experience in design for injection moulding, mould flow analysis, and FEA would be highly advantageous.
