Principal Platform Product Strategist

The most impactful digital products in the market today are the direct result of a seamless blend of business strategy, design, and technology. Orchestrating this behind-the-scenes integration is a product manager, who prioritizes the customer experience from vision to execution and, together with their team, guides all workstreams toward a common vision and plan for delivery. With the increased focus on platforms across different industries, we are seeking a Platform Product Strategist with platform and product manager experience to join our team. This role is pivotal in shaping our clients’ platform strategies, aligning business and technology, and driving platform success from inception to delivery and beyond.

As a Platform Product Strategist, you will work closely with clients to:
- Define and shape the problem space for their platform needs.
- Develop tailored solutions and articulate the value of these platforms.
- Pitch and sell platform solutions to executive stakeholders.
- Oversee the delivery and evolution of the platform as a product.
You will act as the bridge between business goals and technical execution, ensuring platforms are designed and run with a clear strategy, strong operating models, and measurable business impact.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of client problems, provide advisory services and capability uplift.
• Collaborate with your team and stakeholders to think big and imagine future solutions that solve the customer’s problems and deliver value for your client’s business. Collaborate with clients to define platform objectives, aligning business and technology strategies.
• Conduct discovery workshops and analysis to understand client needs and opportunities. Craft compelling business cases, including ROI analysis and pricing strategies, for platform investments.
• Develop platform operating models that balance business agility and operational efficiency. Present and pitch platform solutions to client executives and stakeholders.
• Advocate for a product mindset in platform development, emphasizing user-centric design and measurable outcomes.
• Define and oversee the roadmap, KPIs, and metrics for platform success. Guide platform governance, including access control, scalability, and lifecycle management.
• Facilitate collaboration between client business and technical teams to ensure alignment on goals, priorities, and outcomes.
• Act as a trusted advisor, bridging gaps between executives, product owners, and engineering teams. Drive the overall product development lifecycle, utilizing lean and agile approaches to pilot products quickly, get feedback, iterate, and rapidly launch roadmap increments that deliver undeniable value.
• Partner with engineering teams to deliver the platform, ensuring alignment with the defined strategy. Drive continuous improvement of the platform through feedback loops, updates, and evolution in line with market needs.
• Contribute to the growth and scale of our evolving business through taking an active part in recruiting, community building, mentorship, and driving best practices.

Job Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Familiarity with modern platform development practices, including DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native architecture.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and product lifecycle management.
• Background in IT consultancy or advisory roles is a bonus.

Professional Skills

• Proven experience in creating, managing, and evolving platforms as products. Expertise in platform operating models, including governance, security, scalability, and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of business case development, pricing strategies, and ROI analysis for platforms. Demonstrated ability to align business and technology priorities to achieve measurable outcomes.
• Proven experience working with C-level stakeholders to define strategy and secure buy-in.
• Good understanding of platform technologies, cloud services, and enterprise modernization.
• Exceptional facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills. Enjoy facilitating workshops with stakeholders.
• Track record of delivering successful products to market.
• Deep understanding of user research and design methods and processes.
• Ability to create effective collaboration between Thoughtworks and client teams by encouraging open communication and advocating for shared outcomes. Motivating committed, smart people to do the best work of their careers.
• Evangelize product thinking, leveraging extensive expertise to advise stakeholders, coach product teams, introduce best practices, identify roadblocks, and generate solutions for resolving them quickly.
• Bias for action, with the ability to break down complex problems into tangible steps.
