Our Federal Government client is looking for a Lead Cloud Architect with a deep understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, and business processes. This candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing cloud-based technology solutions that align with our client's business objectives.
As a Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing cloud-based technology solutions that align with the department's business objectives. Reporting to the Technical Delivery Leader of the program, this role requires strategic thinking, deep knowledge of IT infrastructure, applications, and business processes. You will be responsible for shaping the department's cloud strategy, ensuring scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the department's cloud strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
- Design and oversee the integration of new cloud technologies into existing systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with SaaS vendors to understand the future cloud landscape and provide recommendations on cloud vendor choices.
- Establish and enforce cloud-related architectural standards, policies, and best practices across the organisation.
- Communicate the cloud strategy with key senior stakeholders to ensure business understanding and alignment.
- Work with the Program team, leading the design of IT solutions, including hardware, software, and network configurations to ensure scalability and sustainability.
- Provide architectural oversight and guidance for major IT projects, with a focus on cloud integration components.
- Identify and mitigate cloud-related risks and issues, ensuring the stability and security of IT systems.
- Create and maintain detailed cloud architectural documentation, including diagrams, models, and technical specifications.
- Provide training and mentorship to IT staff on cloud best practices and emerging technologies.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Cloud Architect or similar role.
- Deep knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (including TOGAF), cloud computing, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure.
- Expertise in cloud implementation (AWS and Azure), operational best practices, and experience developing and maintaining software programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and design complex solutions.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-versed in Australian Government Architecture and other Whole-of-Government technology strategies.
Technical Skills
- Extensive experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
- Expertise in cybersecurity best practices for cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and application integration.
