The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) extends south of Sydney, about 250km along this picturesque coastal strip, and provides world class health care to a community of more than 400,000 residents. We are one of the region’s largest employers with a workforce of more than 8,500 across eight hospital sites and more than 60 community health services, and an annual budget of $1.3 billion. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, enabling us to deliver timely and efficient health care to our local communities. Following internal changes, ISLHD is now seeking an outstanding Director People and Culture.
The Director People and Culture is a key member of the executive leadership team and reports to the Chief Executive. This role leads the development and implementation of strategic objectives related to the management of people from a developmental, cultural and transactional perspective. It provides authoritative counsel and advice to the ISLHD Executive and senior stakeholders on all workforce matters and directs workforce functions to ensure service delivery and workplace culture is aligned to the overall achievement of the LHD’s goals. Leading a direct team of 4 and a much larger distributed team of c80, you will drive an agile, responsive and contemporary organisational culture. You will lead, plan and implement people related programs and reforms which underpin the performance of the organisation and ultimately ensure that the highest levels of service and care is provided to staff, patients and communities.
To succeed in this role, you will possess a track record of executive leadership gained within a complex, customer focused, multi-site organisation. This experience may have been gained within the public or private sector, however experience working within or at the intersection of health in your recent career would be valuable. Critical to your success will be your demonstrable track record of leading transformative cultural change across an organisation. You will be an outstanding communicator with excellent stakeholder skills and a natural ability to influence and engage at all levels. You will be purpose driven, outcomes focused, collaborative, empathetic and have a passion for creating cultures that support people to thrive.
